Cartello n. 8 Magnolia ENGLISH
Hello, I’m the Magnolia Grandiflora: my name comes from my great white flowers, with an intoxicating scent. I am an evergreen plant originally from America and I came here to Italy in the early 1700s. I grow slowly and I can reach 15 m in height: I think I am the oldest plant in this park! I am often used to embellish parks and gardens and everyone recognizes me easily also thanks to my large leaves: they have a beautiful dark green color, they are leathery, shiny and they can reach 20 cm in length! My fruit is also very special: it looks like a pine cone, initially it is light green and then it dries and opens, releasing red and shiny seeds.
I am also useful for health: from my bark people extract an oil that has the ability to lower the pressure, to regulate the heartbeat and to give a pleasant sense of calm. It is also used to produce beauty masks that give elasticity and softness to the skin.
My friend Platano has already told you about the beneficial properties of the Euganean thermal water… if you add blue clay, taken in the ponds of Arquà Petrarca and Lispida (Monselice) and leave it “resting” in special tubs for at least 60 days, with thermal water flowing constantly at a temperature of about 70 degrees, in contact with the air and the light of the Sun… That’s it!
Colonies of diatoms and cyanobacteria, responsible for the beneficial effects of the mud, now mature and ready for therapeutic application, certified as NATURAL DRUG by a 2013 European patent, will begin to develop. It can cure diseases and pains of bones, joints and muscles (arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, rheumatism, lower back pain).
The salsobromoiodic thermal clay is distributed on the areas of the aching body, at a temperature of about 40 degrees Celsius, over the course of 12 therapeutic sessions, for a duration ranging from 15 to 30 minutes. At the end of the fangation the patient is washed with a hot shower and then immersed in a thermal bath at a temperature of 37 degrees C for a time of 8-10 minutes. After bathing, the patient is dried with warm cloths, is well covered and remains lying 30-60 minutes: this will allow a sweat reaction, which helps the beneficial effects of mud.
Perhaps now you will have understood why we chose the cyanobacterium as the mascot of our Project: without him the precious Euganean thermal sludge would not have the same healing properties! And if you answered all the riddles correctly, you will have found the real name of our friend Ciano!
